Guidance for New Students

The USC has a specific programme for providing information and promoting its academic offerings, which includes details about the CSHG. Additionally, it has a dedicated unit for pre-university guidance, the University Information Office (OIU), along with a University Participation and Integration Service (SEPIU) focused on integrating people with disabilities. There is also an International Students Support Programme (PATEX).

The CSHG runs its own programmes to inform and promote its study offerings via its website. It offers open days and virtual tours, giving prospective students the opportunity to participate in personalised orientation interviews.

At the start of the academic year, the USC annually organises welcome events at its university centres. These events, managed by the Vice-Rectorate for Student Affairs, Culture, and Continuing Education, aim to introduce new students to the resources, services, and opportunities offered by the university. For its part, the CSHG provides a range of welcome and orientation activities for new members, particularly those residing on-site. This includes a process of individualised support to assist in their integration.

At the beginning of each academic year, an introductory session is held to inform students about key aspects to ensure proper integration from day one. Each course is assigned a tutor, and there is a tutoring system in place throughout the academic year, offering support both individually and in groups.

The USC has a student tutoring programme for undergraduate degrees, whereby senior students, after receiving training provided by the university, assist in guiding new students.

Criteria for Suspension of a Degree

In the event of the suspension of an official degree programme, the USC ensures the proper continuation of teaching for enrolled students until completion. To this end, the University’s Governing Council approves criteria related to, among others:

  • Admission of new enrolments to the degree programme.
  • Gradual discontinuation of teaching provision.
  • If the suspended degree is replaced by a similar one (with changes to its nature), conditions are established to enable students to continue their studies in the new programme, including equivalencies between the courses of the old and new plans.
